Dogs for Autism Wins Bluebird Care’s £1,000 Community Grant

We are absolutely delighted and honoured to have been selected as the recipient of Bluebird Care Alton, Petersfield & Havant’s £1,000 Community Grant.

As a charity that relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses and community partners, support like this helps us continue providing life-changing autism assistance dogs to autistic children and adults across the UK, free of charge.

The funding will help support our aftercare programme, ensuring our autism assistance dog partnerships continue to receive the guidance, training and welfare support they need throughout their journey together.

As part of the grant presentation, representatives from Bluebird Care met Jon and his autism assistance dog, Casper, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand the difference an autism assistance dog can make to the life of an autistic child and their family.

Jon and Casper were partnered in 2024 and have since formed an incredible bond. Casper provides reassurance, emotional support and stability, helping Jon navigate everyday life with greater confidence and calm. Their partnership has also had a significant positive impact on Jon’s sleep and overall wellbeing.

You can read more about their inspiring story here: The Magic of a Furry Friend.

Ongoing support is a vital part of every autism assistance dog partnership. While much of the focus is understandably on training and placement, our work continues long after a dog goes home with their autistic partner. Through regular visits, refresher training and welfare support, we help ensure each partnership can continue to thrive.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Bluebird Care Alton, Petersfield & Havant for their generosity and commitment to supporting local charities and communities.

On behalf of everyone at Dogs for Autism, and the families whose lives are changed by our dogs, thank you for helping us continue this important work.
